Materials Science & Engineering
Established in 1967
Materials science and engineering conducts research to develop advanced materials by engineering various properties of materials, such as (1) information/electronic materials, (2) energy/environmental materials, (3) organic/biological materials, and (4) structural/metal materials, for semiconductors, AI, batteries, solar cells, biomedical therapy/diagnosis, eco-friendly recycling, steel, and smart factories.

The department of Electrical Engineering comprises 51 faculty, 1,000 undergraduates, and 400 graduates. Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering

We explore the development and maintenance of essential social infrastructure and building needed for the quality life of humanity. A wide range of areas are encompassed: Structures, Construction Management & Materials, Water Resources, Geotechniques, Environmental Engineering, Transportation and Energy. The diverse areas are ideal for students with a preference for mathematical inquiry, a knack for design, a creative mindset and a strong interest in environmental issues.
Architecture

Fostering Visionary Experts in Architecture and the Built Environment for the Future Since 1963, Korea University's Department of Architecture has focused on training architects with a solid understanding of architecture's fundamentals—function, structure, and beauty. The five-year B.Arch. program, accredited by KAAB, develops problem-solving skills, flexibility in addressing complex challenges, and the ability to reflect local and global values, preparing students for contemporary architectural demands and international competitiveness.
Communications Engineering

Department of Communications was established in collaboration between Korea University and Samsung Electronics to nurture professional talents in the field of next-generation communications, one of the 12 strategic technologies of Korea. It offers a balanced curriculum of software and hardware, theory and practice to foster core talents who will lead advanced communication technologies including 6G.
Semiconductor Engineering

The success of the semiconductor field depends on how well we cultivate talented students. Korea University and SK Hynix have jointly established the Department of Semiconductor Engineering to foster global No. 1 semiconductor talent. We provide in-depth education in semiconductor fields (devices, circuits, systems, software) and multidisciplinary fields (AI, data science) along with self-directed training programs (internship, field practice) developed with SK Hynix.
Integrative Energy Engineering

The Department of Integrative Energy Engineering nurtures experts in sustainable energy by integrating nanotechnology, IT, biotechnology, policy, and energy technology (NT-IT-BT-P-ET). Addressing UN SDGs, students explore photoelectric, electrochemical, and bioenergy engineering to solve global energy challenges. Graduates drive innovation in renewable energy, low-power devices, eco-friendly materials, and autonomous mobility, paving the way for a sustainable and cleaner future.
