[KUCE People] 선우명호 석좌교수, 2024 세계전기차 대회(EVS37) 대회장 취임

▲ 지난달 14일(현지시각), 미국 캘리포니아 새크라멘토에서 진행된 EVS36 폐막식에서 선우명호 EVS37 대회장(우측)이 북미전기자동차협회(EDTA) 회장(좌측)으로부터 대회 바통을 전달받아 들어 올리고 있다. 지난달 14일(현지시간) 세계전기자동차협회(WEBA) 총회가 미국 캘리포니아 새크라멘토에서 진행된 EV36 폐막식에서 2024년 4월 열릴 예정인 EV37 개최지를 서울로 공식 발표한 가운데, 고려대학교 공과대학(학장 이해근) 자동차공학과 선우명호 석좌교수가 북미전기자동차협회(EDTA) 회장으로부터 대회 바통을 전달받으며 2024년 세계전기차 대회(EVS37) 대회장 취임이 공식화되며 연이은 경사가 전해졌다. ▲EVS 37 브로슈어 1969년부터 열린 EVS는 전 세계에서 가장 오래되고 큰 규모의 전기자동차 전시회 및 학술대회로, ‘세계 전기자동차 올림픽’으로 불린다. WEVA에서는 매년 대륙별 전기자동차 협회와 함께 아시아·유럽·북미 대륙을 순회하며 개최하고 있다. 내년 4월 서울 코엑스에서 열릴 EVS37은 WEVA와 EAAP가 주최하고 한국자동차공학회(KSAE)가 주관하며, ‘미래 모빌리티로 향하는 전기 물결(Electric Waves to Future Mobility)’을 주제로 진행된다. EVS37을 주관하는 한국자동차공학회에서는 본 대회가 한국 전기차 산업의 미래 방향성을 내다봄과 동시에 국산 전기차 관련 기업의 세계적인 교류의 장이 될 것으로 전망했다. EVS 한국 개최는 지난 2002년과 2015년에 이어 세 번째로, 이미 500여 개의 부스 문의 및 예약이 진행되고 있으며, 역대 최대 규모로 치러질 예정이라 밝혔다. 선우명호 석좌교수는 “EVS는 세계에서 가장 권위 높은 전기차 행사로 매년 전기차 부문에서 앞서나가는 세계 주요 도시에서 열린다”라며, “한국은 세계 전기차 시장의 트렌드세터이자 글로벌 자동차 브랜드를 보유하고 있고, 충전 인프라 등 시장 환경도 앞서 있기 때문에 EVS를 개최하기에 매력적인 장소이다”라고 전했다. 한편, 선우명호 석좌교수는 지난달 세계전기자동차협회(WEVA) 회장으로 취임, 아시아태평양전기자동차협회(EVAAP) 회장직, 고려대학교 자동차융합학과에서 석좌교수를 역임하고 있으며, 지난 6월에는 2024 세계전기차 대회(EVS37) 대회장에 피선되어 눈길을 끌고 있다. /공과대학신문 ▶ 고려대학교 자동차융합학과 (누르면 바로 이동)
